Artist Statement

My work is driven by an ongoing curiosity about what it means to be human—both who we are as individuals and how we move together as a society

I’m drawn to love, desire, and self-image—and to the power of photographs to shape our understanding of ourselves and each other.

That thread connects everything I do: from my B.A. in Sociology, to my work in coaching (both as a coach and as someone who has been coached), to my personal passion for creativity and photography. For me, the camera is where observation, reflection, and connection meet: an honest space to explore how we navigate our shared world and relate to each another

MASKS

An ongoing portrait project by Jen

We all do it.

We shift. We adapt. We sometimes even change how we show up depending on the room, the day, or who we're with.

MASKS is a curious, playful look at that instinct.

The setup is simple: you bring a mask.

Don't have one? No problem. It can be anything—costume, vintage, paper, improvised, borrowed, or something we figure out together.

No artistic background required. No deep hidden meaning needed. It’s not a test, and you don't have to analyze yourself or "reveal" a thing. It’s just an easy, fun spark.

One portrait can't define an entire person—and it shouldn't try to. It’s simply a glimpse. A striking, honest moment.

Step out of the routine for a few minutes.

Think of this as an invitation to do something unexpected on an ordinary Tuesday.

It’s not about walking away with a conventional, picture-perfect headshot—you’ll be wearing a mask, after all. It’s about the experience itself: taking a quick break from the daily grind to play, pause, and step outside your usual box for a moment.

Zero artistic or modeling background required. Don't have a mask? I've got plenty, or we can figure one out together. There's no pressure to perform, pose, analyze your identity, or be profound.

Just a relaxed, low-key chance to try something different.

  • "I enoyed one of the most beautiful, serene September nights at the beach this week with Jennifer Lee- who captured photos of me I’ll cherish forever.   It’s so important to love yourself, take time for you, and stand tall in a world that feels sometimes chaotic and dark. Jennifer is great at what she does, makes you feel so comfortable, and creates time that really feels so calm, peaceful, and special. I encourage you to book a session with her, you will be so happy you did!

  • "The photoshoot was one to remember! Jennifer was so full of grace and kindness. The last time I've had photos taken was over 10 years ago. I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was also quite nervous. The nerves quickly faded away as Jennifer helped make it comfortable and fun. During my 30 minute session, I was the most relaxed I've been in months! This photoshoot wasn't just fun and relaxing but very memorable. Remembering to take time for yourself is so important. Jennifer was so easy to work with , and I am already excited about our next (photo) shoot together!"
